sunday my relatives took me to Maze restaurant, which was the second best gordon ramsay's after the one at royal hospital road. it does french cusine with asian influences, and it was really sensational in a way. i kept thinking about the ravioli with seafood reduction i had with amanda in barcelona though. i guess while the food here was consistently wonderful, i missed her company. anyways the foie gras on roasted quail was absolutely sensational. and pork belly with salmon? gorgeous fatty pork with the strong salmon taste played off each other wonderfully. i can eat well but i dont really know how to write well about food i guess. i had nine courses from the tasting menu, so that really cost a bomb =( haha good thing i didnt pay.. haha
Foie gras marinated in Pinot Noir caramel. smoked ham hock and picalilli
Orkney scallops roasted with spices, peppered golden raisin purée, cauliflower
Honey and soy roasted quail with Landes foie gras and spiced pear chutney
Daurade Royale with native lobster risotto, lemongrass, Thai basil and lobster glaze
Duart salmon, pork belly with choucroute and smoked raisin reduction
amanda bought me a miumiu shirt. i guess she was just getting a bit too guilty. hahahaha anyways the shirt is really a good fit. i already had a miu miu one in blue and white distressed poplin, so i knew what i was getting. this was a rather nice chocolate which i wore with my suit to maze.
speaking of which, my suit is really nice i guess. =) the trousers are really wonderfully cut, and the jacket fits rather nicely. commonwealth day was really irritating, cos i think high society hob-nobbing is rather meaningless. i hate making small talk also. anyways the queen was standing in front of me and smiling at me and i was too stunned to shake her hand. howww fucking spastic. stunned by the regal air i guess.
anyways today is going to be damn rushed. pick up weekeat's cds, another dress for janet? i havent packed my bag, there might be a few rounds of mahjong, still got gym, and im going for strawberry moons with amanda later. =)
